High neutrality is likely to fuel volatility

From investors’ perspective, oil prices have overreacted in the short term. At these lower price levels, the asset’s medium-term appeal is increasing. Interestingly, however, investors have nevertheless reduced their positions significantly. A high degree of neutrality continues to dominate the equity market, which is likely to lead to a rise in volatility.

Sommer-Comeback der Edelmetalle? - Seasonality-Report - 06.26

There are no translations available.

The bears have almost disappeared

The level of unease amongst equity investors, as measured by the Neutrality Index, remains high. This is primarily because the bears have given up entirely and switched to the neutral camp. In US sentiment data, however, the bears remain steadfast. This is reminiscent of last autumn. Following that, the market lost some of its upward momentum. Ahead of the sweltering summer months, this is not necessarily a reassuring prospect.

Uncertainty persists

Investors remain unsettled. Despite the IPO euphoria surrounding SpaceX, investors aren’t getting excited. Basic confidence in the U.S. market remains relatively low. The situation is quite different in Germany, where institutional investors are showing remarkable strategic confidence. We’re also seeing a significant rise in basic confidence among professionals when it comes to gold.
